Interstate Guns Transfer Policies

Do you need to transfer a gun from an online store or other dealer? We can take care of that.

INCOMING TRANSFERS

For firearms transferred to Interstate Guns (IG).

By having your firearm(s) shipped to us, you agree to the following policy.

PRICING

Transfer fees are just $30, and $15 for each additional serial number.

NFA items are $75, and $25 for each additional NFA item.

COPIES OF OUR FFL

Interstate Guns accepts firearm transfer shipments from other licensed dealers, and from private individuals. Once the firearm is purchased, a copy of our FFL can be requested by the FFL of origin via email to ffl@interstateguns.com. IG will send our FFL (and SOT if applicable) only to the dealer that is shipping the firearm.

Buyers do not need to inform Interstate Guns in advance that a transfer shipment is coming.

PICKING UP YOUR TRANSFER

Once the firearm has arrived and has been processed, our staff will contact the buyer to pick up their firearm. The firearm will be ready for pick up after they have been checked in. This process typically takes 1-3 hours after delivery but may take as long as 1-2 business days. Even if tracking information indicates the firearm has been delivered to IG, please wait until a staff member calls to inform you that it’s ready for pick-up.

STORAGE FEES

Transfers not picked up within 30 days after they are checked in are subject to a $20 storage fee in addition to the transfer fee for the first month. After 30 days, transfers not picked up will have a $10 per day storage fee in addition to the previous fees.

Transfers not picked up within 90 days are considered abandoned and will be disposed at IG’s discretion. Unless prior arrangements have been made, such as deployed military, firearms left abandoned on the premises for greater than 90 days will be sold to recover storage fees.

NFA items with no action towards ATF submission after 30 days will be subject to the $20 storage fee. After 30 days, it will be subject to $10 per day storage fee. After 90 days, it will considered abandoned and sold to recover storage and transfer fees.

Approved Form 4 NFA items that are not picked up within 30 days are subject to the $20 storage fee. After 30 days, NFA items not picked up will have a $10 per day storage fee in addition to the previous fees. After 90 days, the Form 4 will be Voided and the NFA item will be sold by IG to recover fees.

IDENTIFICATION

The person who orders the firearm online must be the person who picks up the firearm and completes the paperwork.

Please bring the appropriate identification to the shop for your transfer. You will need a current (unexpired) valid (not VOIDED) government-issued photo identification document. Example: driver’s license.

If your license is marked ORI (original) or DUP (duplicate), 30 days must have elapsed from the date of issuance.

If your photo ID does not list your current residence, your ID will need to be updated before your background check is run through NICS.

Active-Duty Military personnel stationed in Louisiana are eligible to purchase firearms as Louisiana residents, and may bring their military photo-identification card issued by the United States Department of Defense, plus:

• Permanent orders assigning the purchaser to a Louisiana duty post, OR
• Leave and Earning Statement with a Louisiana residence address.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

Background checks are only initiated in connection with a purchase/transfer. You must be a Louisiana resident AND at least 21 years old to undergo a background check for any handgun, revolver, frame, or lower receiver, OR NFA item — anything that is not a shotgun or a rifle.

Persons aged 18-20, and those who are not Louisiana residents, may purchase/transfer a shotgun or rifle only.

OUTGOING TRANSFERS

Outgoing Private Party Transfers are subject to the actual cost of shipping plus $10 for packing materials, payable by the person dropping off the firearm for shipment. Shipping fees vary by weight, dimensions, and destination. Outgoing transfers will not ship out until shipping has been paid.
